    This is part of Sundazed's deep exploration into the Mainstream Records label that begins in 2024! We've painstakingly (ok, we enjoyed it, but whatever) went through all variations of masters to pick which we thought were best in each instance, some mono, and some stereo. Sometimes they got the stereo right in the 60s and it was an highly enjoyable experience. Other times, not so much.

Energetic Beatlesque ‘68 power pop! With similar melodic stylings as groups like the Merry-Go-Round and the Left Banke, Ellie Pop’s individuality shines through their commonality with superb underground ‘60s pop innovators. Pressed on clear vinyl w/ red splatter!

Eponymous 1968 Mainstream label album is definitely a pop/psychedelic classic-in-waiting, whose time has perhaps finally come – great songs right from the start, all oozing Beatles harmonics, with tracks such as 'Some Time Ago' and 'Caught In the Rain' especially thick with Beatles influence (thus explaining their appearance on the Pepperisms compilation).

This is really a wonderful set of catchy and commercial songs, not exactly psychedelic, with innovative edge-distorted guitars and odd time signatures that make every song worth hearing. Naturally the album vanished without a trace upon original release, followed soon by the band. Liner notes feature a few words from the band's guitarist, as well as noting some gig listings alongside some Michigan heavy-weights, leading one to think that the band were from that state. They were a quartet, with brothers S. and R. Dunn responsible for writing all tracks.Fresh breezy folky psych pop!
